Teacher’s Helper Work and Study
Teacher’s Helper Work and Study for secondary school students and Phi Sohn Nong – Students Tutoring Students, are innovative programs developed and operated jointly with school personnel and WDI board member Bleumjit Rubin and her husband David Rubin.
Secondary schools in rural areas identify students most in need. WDI provides modest financial assistance, through an agreement with the school, to these students. The students receiving the assistance, in turn, work at the school for no more than one hour a day. High school students perform various meaningful tasks such as library work, science or computer lab assistance, and tutoring. The monies earned (not a free handout) help students continue their schooling by using what they’ve earned to buy books, pay fees, lunches and transportation costs.
